Sofie and Stella

Sofie and Stella are two beautiful rescue pups. They live with their sweet 2 legged companion Lauren and her family.


Sofie is a Labrador Retriever/ Chow Mix. She was rescued from Harford Co Humane Society. They have had her for 7 wonderful years. She is a very good dog. She has been a great companion for the last 7 years to Lauren and her family. She is a beautiful, sweet girl. 

Stella is a Labrador Retriever/ American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. Lauren and her family drove to Conneticut to rescue her. Stella's 4 legged mom was on the euthanasia list and went into labor the day she was to be put to sleep. A foster home took her in and raised her 16 puppies!!! All of the puppies and MAMA went to great homes. Stinky Stella, as her mom calls her is just a sweet heart. She loves to play and is very well behaved. Lauren was really happy to share her story of Stella. She wants others to know Pit Bulls are just a lovely as any other dog in the world. Stella and Sofie are her world. Bruno

Bruno is an American Pit Bull Terrier. He has been in his FUR EVER home for almost 3 weeks. I took place in helping him find his new home. Bruno was bounced around from a couple of different homes in his short life. He is a 5 month old goof ball. He lives with his loving family who is made up of his mom Amber and dad Shaun. His two legged brother Aden is his very BEST FRIEND. They had an instant bond of friendship. Bruno is great with Aden, who is only 5 years old. Bruno's family had just lost their lovely dog Jake a few months prior. Aden only new Jake for the older gentleman he was. This whole PUPPY thing is a GREAT thing for a 5 year old active boy. Aden and Bruno together just makes you smile. The bad rep that PITS get is heartbreaking. Bruno and his family spread the good name of the American Pit Bull Terrier's. Bruno is a very fun-loving dog. He is adjusting very well to his new home. Bruno's favorite things are his family, dog friends, playing with his rope toys... and then chewing them to pieces. Some of his simple pleasures in his life include, sticking his head out of the car window, daily trips to the dog park and going to the pet store and picking out his own treats and toys. 

Isis and Astrid

We first found Isis (our boxer) through petfinder.com. She was at Somerset County Animal Control and as soon as we saw her sweet little face in her photo, we fell in love. The wonderful people at the animal control were so kind to her, letting her sleep under their desks instead of in the kennel and feeding her venison to try to put on weight. When we contacted them, they said that she was too scared to be taken home but that we could come meet her a week after she came to them. We planned to go to Somerset twice: once to meet her and once to take her home a week or two later. However, when we met her, she wagged her little nub at us and put her head in our laps so the people at the animal control agreed that it would be okay for us to take her home. She was in such bad shape having been beaten, starved, bred, and fought, and we knew she needed to see the vet. The animal control didn't have adequate resources so they were unable to have her fixed or treated, and we signed a paper agreeing that we would take care of her. We took her to the loving vets (and techs!) at Celebrie Animal Hospital and they shaved her neck so her wounds could heal and gave us antibiotics. She's not perfect, and we've discovered some things that trigger protective aggression but we love her so much, we wouldn't trade her for anything. She's sweet, sensitive, and full of wiggles. It's been a long road but she's learned the meaning of love and trust and has definitely found her home.

Astrid (our pit bull), aka Turd, came to us a week after one of my sister's friends adopted her, apparently unaware of the challenges of a pit bull puppy. She was about six months old and when the owner tried to give her back to the MD SPCA, they said she would be euthanized so she reached out on Facebook for a new owner. When we saw her little face, we knew we had to at least try to give her a loving home. We took Isis to Crofton to meet her and they got along really well. They ran around and played. They instantly loved each other. So Isis became a big sister! For months, they spooned on the couch, snuggled in Isis' bed, and wrestled like there was no tomorrow. Isis taught Astrid how to punch like a boxer and Astrid taught Isis how to take the squeakers out of all her plush toys. Astrid has destroyed everything from our houseplants to our kitchen floor but we've learned to keep everything at a safe height. She was tough to housebreak and ruined a few carpets and blankets but Astrid is now a little over two years old and she keeps us laughing all day. She's a maniac who pukes in the car, puts her tongue in people's mouths, laughs in her sleep, sucks on blankets, and can't keep her feet from slipping on the kitchen floor. She eats everything and she's afraid of most adults but she LOVES kids. Her puppy hood was frustrating but we're so glad we stuck it out and didn't give up on her. She's grown into a great dog who's still a little timid at times but full of love and kisses.

The first time Melissa and her husband  brought Isis in I helped with her appointment. Her scars were horrible. You could clearly tell she had a rough life prior to being adopted by her new loving family. They brought her in and said do whatever it takes to make her feel better. They didn't care about anything else but making sweet Isis feel at home. Dr. Garrett did an amazing job with her and Isis let us handle her to make her feel better. She was such a good patient. I just love seeing Astrid and Isis they are two goofy dogs who just love life. 

Trigger

The Handsome Trigger is a Dalmatian/ American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. He was rescued from BARCS in October of 2010. Trigger is living with 2 good friends of mine Amanda and Nick. He is such a sweet dog. Very laid back, great with people and other animals. Enjoy his pictures he is a Cutie! 

My Bella and Lily

Bella - White- American Pit Bull Terrier 
Lily- Tan- American Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever Mix


Both Bella and Lily are rescue dogs. Lily was adopted from the Defender's of Animal Rights Shelter. We rescued her in 2007 at the age of one. She was such a sweet thing and fit in great with our other rescue dog Roxanne ( she has since passed- will do a separate blog just for her soon.) Lily quickly stole our hearts. Lily was living with a family who could not care for her. They had two other big dogs who were beating Lily up. She was very thin when we brought her home and also apprehensive of other people. She is truly a lovely dog. She gets a long with other dogs and loves people. She is very laid back but LOVES to play. Playing fetch is her simple joy in life. She also loves a cool dip in the pool in the summer months. She likes to swim when her family and best friend Bella are in the pool. During summer months you will often find Lily sitting in the love seat of our swimming pool. Her Lab really shows when it comes to food. We are always making fun of her for being such a "piggy." 

Bella was rescued from a home where she was not taken care of. A good friend of mine told me her story and I went to see her thinking even if I couldn't adopt her that I would find someone who would. My boyfriend Dave and I went to meet her, we fell for her within 10 seconds. Despite her situation she was such a happy girl. We took Bella home with us that night. Her tail bent in 3 spots, fleas, no shots.... by the next day she looked like a new pup! She was only 5 months old so still needed to adjust to basic training. When Bella first came to us she didn't even know how to sit. Bella was living with a younger man who worked long hours and left her tied to the door knob of his bed room. Bella suffered from separation anxiety. Bella fit right in with Lily and Roxanne. Bella is a pretty silly dog. She loves attention and loves everything about the idea of the word play. She was adopted into our family in 2008. She is now 3 years old. Bella is very intense when it comes to swimming. She dives under water and will swim for hours. During summer months you will find Bella Boo in the pool with Lily. Often times you will look outside and they will each be in the love seat together. Tennis ball and Rope toy are two of her favorite games to play. Goofy Bella loves to snuggle. 

Bella and Lily have found their FUR EVER home. They are living the good life now. They are a true joy and for those who follow my blog--- you will be hearing about them a lot.  More pictures to come!
